Well Ive decided to start his blog up again, and with rgular content. I should have more time now with Uni starting again soon and getting more writers and contributors for Squidge Mag.
I’ve been working in a pub job on Whitehall for the past month or so, and after my sabattical year, it’s only served to remind me how exploited and undervalued bar staff are, especially in Central London, and especially for the Spirit Group/Punch Taverns. £5.73/hr for a pub turning over that much money, on the doorstep of British Government?
So my time there is to end. I’m heading back to the Students’ Union, to work behind the bar this time. The conditions will be slightly better, and the pay should be slightly over minimum living wage, so all good there. I’m not looking forward to the customers though (the regulars there not exactly being known for their manners or kindness…).
What else has been happening? I attended some of Climate Camp this year, but too be honest, was fairly let down. I’m not entirely sure choosing Blackheath was the best idea, it being a green protected site and all. There was a few small direct actions took place this evenig across the city, and a few picked up by the National Press, but nothing too huge.
The anti-BNP ‘kettle’ a few weeks ago was much better however. We can safely claim that as a victory after keeping the fascist twats out of their own event.
So happy days all round really. I’ll have some more content up soon, including more pictures recently developed on my Holga, but til then…
