I’ve been struck down with a distinctive lack of inspiration lately, or perhaps it’s just motivation… I need to get out and get some photography projects on the go before I lose my mind.

Anyway, was trawling the old WWW and stumbled upon one of my favourite ever photographers, Richard Billingham. I first came across Billingham in my first year at LSBU as a piece of research for one of my first photography projects there. i sat in the library with his book ‘Rays a Laugh’, and it’s just simply fantastic. each turn of the page leads you from wanting to cry, to laughing out loud, all the way to smiling with sheer joy at some of the heartfelt moments Billingham manages to capture with his family. The book shows an unedited and radically honest view of Billinghams dysfunctional family, affected by the blights of poverty and alcoholism.

Check out ‘Rays a Laugh’ here. and if you get the chance, buy it. It’s one of the most beautiful books you will ever buy.
